11 Essential things you must do before you publish your new post.

As bloggers, just writing a new post is not an easy task.

In the past, I will be so much eager to get my written post out there just because I wanted to keep my blog updated at all times, thereby compromising quality.

Time has proven that just writing a few paragraphs about a certain topic and publishing them as post is not enough.

One of our goals as bloggers, is to create awesome contents that are loved and easily shared by our audience. It’s the greatest feeling in the world.

After spending several hours writing a post, you have to make sure it is top notch.

I have compiled 11 points to help you review and properly evaluate your posts before publishing.

BEFORE YOU HIT PUBLISH

1) Use editing tools

The New York daily news may have editors separate from the writers. But as a single blogger, you can't afford that luxury.

Most of us, still put on the I can do everything card and some errors slip. There are many online tools you can use to get started. Some good ones are:

Grammarly

After the deadline

Autocrit

Correct English

We might read a post a thousand times and still not find any mistakes but one of your visitors at first glance, would easily detect these errors.

What you can do.

1) Quit typing, just read it like your visitors would.
2) Ensure you’ve used simple sentences that your readers can easily digest.
3) Use contraction like you’ll, I’ve instead of you will or I have.
4) Use all words appropriately, some words sound alike but don’t mean the same thing – words like quite/quiet, their/they’re/there, He’s/His and more.

Use your desktop to edit as well – and not your mobile phone.  If you can’t afford all those fancy online tools. Microsoft office can also do the job.

2) Clear structuring and formatting

I found out that I'm more reluctant to read articles that are full of large boxes of text - missing proper formatting. Even if it’s a topic that interests me, it's so hard to read- no matter how hard I try. I still may not read past the first paragraph.

A readable looking paragraph usually contains about 100 words with no more than 3-4 sentences. Most people don't like to read boring looking stuffs - so quit using large boxes of text.

Some people are too lazy to actually read your entire text and end up just reading the key points, choose which is most useful to them - before they then decide to read the whole thing.

How to improve.

  • Separate the full article into smaller sections, by dividing it with subheadings.
  •  Proper formatting, correct use of punctuation marks.
  • Keep paragraphs short and self-explanatory.

3) Include your voice.
            `
I usually tend to write like I'm being interviewed or an informal gathering. Another better way to write is - if you are talking to a close friend.
Let your audience know you and if you are someone they can easily relate to.

4) Spice up the title of post

The most important thing after actually improving on your text. The click through rate of your blog can increasing drastically if have a catchy and clickable title.
Be sure to;

  • Include low competitive keywords.
  • Add emotional and power words that will encourage click though.
  • Add some creativity.

Imagine creating great contents be no one is clicking to read it - it will suck, definitely. What you need to do is create an intriguing and persuasive titles that people will click, just out of curiosity - to unravel the taste of the great content within.

By adding keywords, you are not only optimizing your titles for humans but for seo engines as well.

Examples of a "click through" and "scroll past" titles

1) Mistakes made by bloggers (Scroll past)
2) 15 painful mistakes made by popular bloggers (click through)

Other tips

  • Let the title direct to a specific group.
  • Include action words like (how to, quickly, fast)
  • Add numbers
A free I will recommend to help you choose a title faster Coshedule headlines.

5) Shorten Permalinks

These has to do with editing your blog post.

Points to note;

  • Include just 3-4 words.
  • Includes keywords.

6) Internal linking

Consider your new post incomplete, if it does not contain any interlinks - unless of course you have little or no related content to link back to.

If you a lot of contents already, you are not done editing your post until you have successful linked back to old posts.

This both gives your readers extra reading resources but also keeps them on your website for long. This is great for SEO, increases page views and reduces bounce rates.

Must read: Effective ways to add Interlinks

7) Including citations

It is always important for one to give credit where credit is due.

It may be a quote or image, that you may desire to use on your post. Be sure to add proper citations at all times.

8) Add Visual attraction

Make you post look a bit interesting by adding visuals - images, videos, gifs. This increases engagement

9) Trim! Trim! Trim!

This is the point when you start weeding out the unwanted growth. Omit unnecessary words to make reading faster and straight to the point.

It’s fair to say, some of the words in your post may not need to be there. so, kindly uproot them and keep the write up smooth

10) Add a call-to-action

These comes up at the end of a post. After sharing your awesome and helpful content. Just suggest to your readers what you will love them to do; whether it’s to encourage them to comment, sign up or view your latest promo or freebie.

Say it at the end of posts, if they truly loved your content, they will hear your cry.

11) Proofread some more

Do this for an extra 30 minutes and then you’re all set.

Here is a highlight of all the points mentioned above.

  • Proof-Read It
  • Check for Proper Structure and Formatting
  • Include Your Voice
  • Optimise Title of Post
  • Shorten Permalinks
  • Internal Linking
  • Include Citations: Give Credit Where Credit Is Due
  • Add Visual Attraction
  • Create A Call-To-Action
  • Trim, Trim, Trim
  • Proof Read Some More

Hold it buster! Don't go running to post your article just yet. If you have auto share turned on, you have to make sure you post when majority of your audience and followers are active.

Have any questions or suggestion on how to get a new post ready for publishing please comment below.

How to get more clients? 4 things you need to know before starting a business blog

Are you thinking of starting a blog for your business?

Well, if you are, there are certain things you need to know first.

Your business might not even need a blog. But you have probably heard times without number about how your business or industry website needs a blog.

Business blog

Blogging is a very lucrative and not to mention very valuable to a business, but not EVERY business.

All you might end up needing is a good social media ad, business or eCommerce website.

Most of the time, when people tell me that their business blog failed or isn't doing so good. There are three questions i ask them.

1) Are you reaching a targeted audience?
2) Are they potential clients?
3) What sought of business do you do?

Business blogs are assets, but you need to really think about it being good for your blog. So, it won't turn out to be a huge waste of your time.

Before i continue, you might also like:

Here are things you must know before starting a blog for your industry or service business

1) Target potential Customers

You might start a blog or social media channel and the first thing you are doing is marketing your services, content or products to your friends. Even if your peers are business owners as well, the most you can get out from them are; advice, supports, and at best some referrals.

Depending on your approach and content strategy, the tendency of your readers and peers becoming paying customers will be less likely.

For example, a make-up artist that writes a lot of blog post about how to do make up like a pro

Majority of her readers will be people interested in learning how to make-up.

Her readers may not even be in her country, now imagine going cross country to do a client's face. Now let that sink in, its not feasible right? thought so.

Will other aspiring make-up artists want to hire her? probably not.

There is nothing wrong offering business coaching to make some extra income. However, blogging about "how you do what you do" is probably not the right approach.

For a make-up artist, there are some content ideas that would work well to driving in clients and not aspiring makeup artists.

1) Have a website that sells make-up tools instead.
2) Target a desired clientele, by writing blog posts on how to choose the right make-up artist.
3) Offer a paid one-to-one consulting services with aspiring make-up artists.
4) Get testimonials from past clients.

The idea may seem cliché but marketing your designed services to similar service providers would eventually lead to the failure of your business blog. Learn how to attract the right clients.

2) Are you a Newbie? Don't act like it

If you want to attract potential clients, they have to trust that you can handle what they are hiring you for. When starting your blog, ensure that you have all the necessary features set up, don't make beginners mistakes

Start growing your email list, add convincing and compelling reasons why readers should sign up. Also, don't forget search engine optimization (seo).

Articles on how to boost organic traffic,

Blogs usually have a slow growth process. Don't write quality posts and expect that tons of people will start swooping in; like they have been waiting for you all their lives.

Create awareness, invest a little in advertising. If you have a business location, add it to Google my business.

Meanwhile, be sure your visitors have good navigation of your blog. They should have a good understanding of who you are, what you do and how they can work with you. Have an interesting look to your landing pages.

3) Set up Business accounts and link it with your blog.

All with the aim of building trust, link your business social media accounts with your site. Your readers may want to get to know you better.

This way, your audience can follow you on your social accounts and communicate with you easily on their most comfortable social platforms.

4) Evolve some more.

Things keep changing and you need to keep evolving with your set blogging strategies. Be flexible not stagnant, don't be skeptical trying new ideas.

Having innovative ideas can be extremely helpful to your business. It is capable of taking your business to a whole new level.

Tweak up your existing blogging strategies, if it is not yielding favorable results and not working for your readers. Experiment with several blogging strategies and find out which one works for your audience.

It may be a new strategy never being tried by anyone before or well-known strategies.

Wrapping up

Blogging is something that you may enjoy, but only profitable with and only with the right approaches.

Research on the right strategies to put your business in the right market from the beginning. Be the supplier and your audience demand.

When all grounds have been covered, you can then proceed to start a blog for your business.

I wish I knew all these before starting my business blog in the past. Hope these tips will be useful to you and your journey towards having a successful business blog.

5 ways to Effectively add Internal links to content for SEO (How To) | My Blogger Truth

Effective Ways to do Internal linking

Are you certain that you are placing internal links the right way? Do you have any clue about internal links placements? No, then this article is for you.

If you have heard of SEO for organic traffic, you will know that internal linking is an important factor to consider.

Also, when it comes down to getting all your web pages indexed, internal linking is your best bet.

What is internal linking?

This is a Link building process whereby you add different links of web pages within your website between posts and pages on your website. Forming a tree or a spider web of interconnected contents.

Link building spider web

How many links should one add per page

The average number of links on a web page should be between 30-100, this comprises of both the internal and external links. I got  this number after comparing some links present in top websites, but it usually depends on the length of posts. So endeavour to keep you internal links close to that number. Anything beyond this might be considered too much.

How to add Internal links

  • Add the links to related pages only, that would be helpful to readers.
  • You can add links to targeted keywords of another written post.
  • You can add links in the body section of certain posts or pages.
  •  Add both new and old posts when interlinking, it is good for SEO.
Linking building

Effective ways to add internal links for SEO

1) Write more Content

It's no secret that if you have enough contents on your site, you will have more contents to link back to.

That is why i always emphasise on choosing a niche for your website. This enables you to do internal linking with ease.

Having many rich and meaning content with their variety of target keywords is beneficial for proper interlinking. Meaning, there would then be many contents links to add to your new posts that use related keywords.

2) Deep Links

There are important static pages such as privacy policy, contact us, disclaimer, terms of service pages that you do not need to link back to. Only when necessary, because these pages are already in your websites home page navigation menu section.

It is better to link to pages or posts deep within the structure or your website.

3) Anchor text

The use of anchor texts is the best way to do internal linking. When your website is crawled, search engine take into account of the words or phrases that linked back to different pages on you site, searching for relevant keywords.

Avoid the use of words like "Read More" or "click here". When structuring your anchor text, use actionable target keywords that relates to the post you are linking back to.

4) Use Dofollow Links Attributes

For SEO purposes, use dofollow links attributes for the following reasons.

  • To increase the visibility of all your web pages.
  • To increase Link juice.
  • To force search engines to crawl pages on your website to get them indexed faster.

5) Don't over do it

Now that you have gotten the concept of internal linking, you may be tempted to go overboard. Yes, you have to resist that urge.

You don't want your posts looking like this.

wrong internal linking

Depending on the length of your content, scatter your links at different sections. And maintain the number of links to about 30-100.

Do you have a lot of contents already present on your site, and you don't know how to find all the contents related to specific keywords. Use google to find all of them, type in website:www.your-blog.com"Keyword".

Bonus Tip: If you have a specific content on your website doing better than the rest. The idea would be to add links to web pages on that particular content page, so they would get some of the link juice too.

Little Tips That Make a Difference

Adding internal links to your new or old posts isn't something that you spend your whole day doing.

You shouldn't let it distract you. Go ahead and completely finish writing all the words to your content before you add links to target words in the article. Edit some words or phrases if need be. Simple as that.

Now it's your turn to comment your questions or suggestions in the comments section. Feed backs are always welcome in that section.

SEO made easy: 21 killer SEO techniques for beginners

 Seo for beginners

If you keep trying to promote your website without practicing SEO your content isn't going to reach many people that are searching for the type of content you write.

Fact, over 2 million blog posts are published daily. Among these are experienced blogger's posts that are always at the first pages of search results.

How do they do it?
Simple answer: Search engine optimization (Seo).

Instead of using social media sites to boost up traffic,  how about  you practice some Seo techniques.

Proper understanding and practices of seo can increase your traffic significantly.

Many people would find your contents easily in search  engine results (google, Bing and so on),  that is why Seo is also important.

Google records over 4 billion search queries worldwide on a daily basis. I know you wouldn't mind one - third on that ending up on your website on a daily basis.  Well, I will love it to, that is why I am taking search engine optimization (seo) seriously and you should too.

What does SEO (that millions of people google every month) mean?

Apart from the fact that it's an acronym, that stands for 'Search engine Optimization', what else do you know about it.

Since this is a step-by-step guide, let’s start from the Beginning.

Must read:

What is SEO?

Let's keep dictionary meaning aside, here is what I understand about SEO in plain terms.

Search engine optimization is a systematic process of optimizing a websites design and content, so that it can appear in the top pages of google (and other search engines) search results.

search engine optimization (seo) techniques are strategically taken to help one rank one better in search results.

Ranking number  one in google  searches  doesn't happen overnight,  so you need to be patient.

But I can tell you this, when your website ranks in the first pages of google search. You’ll have more visibility, plus an incredible increase in website traffic. Then you will know for sure that google trusts your site and more of your pages will begin to rank better.

Don't worry about, " Not actionable seo strategies".

I' m offering to you today seo techniques that actually work.

Quick tips

1) Quality Content

Endeavour to constantly update your website with useful and quality content. Learn to strive for quality over quantity when it comes to content writing.

Your aim should be to publish helpful articles and videos for humans too not just search engines, so therefore focus on improving readability of your content. Also keep updating your website with fresh contents.

2) Internal linking

I will keep talking about this. Internal linking is so important. This will improve indexing and visibility of your website.

No one is aspiring to be on the low-ranking pages on search engine results.  Even ranking on page 2 or 3.... Isn't enough. Most of time people end their search on the first pages without bothering to click on page 2.

Practicing proper internal linking with a Do follow link attribute would increase your Link juice for higher ranking.

3) Use long - tail keywords in title tags

Here's what I mean,

Always use long tail words for your post titles, Include more than one relevant keywords.

Just enough to optimize search engine traffic. But not too much that you end up stuffing keywords, no this is not what I'm saying.

4) Publish long contents

Google prefers long content about a topic to short contents. It shows google that your content is more detailed.

People generally are more prone to sharing long contents more than short contents. The message is usually sent across with in depth understanding.

According to a search by Backlinko, the average word count for google search page 1 is 1,890 words.

So, do more researches and write long blog posts.

5) Keyword's too common?  Then create your own keywords.

Well, Why not?

The goal here is to rank highly in google search results.  Instead of reusing over choked keywords, how about you create your own.

Create something unique as your keyword, whether it’s a brand name, product or a tutorial article - You are bound to end you in the first pages or you might even find yourself ranking #1.  That is, if your keyword becomes popular.

This is one of the best seo techniques to follow.

6) Get targeted keywords

You can get your own set of untapped keywords from seed keywords.Com. The use of relevant and targeted keywords of your selected niche would both increase website visibility and increase organic traffic, so choose wisely.

You can also google keyword planner to help in selecting appropriate keywords.

Long keywords is key.

7) Optimize URLs

There are several ways you can try optimizing your webpage links. Your links should always be in form easily read by search engine bots.

# 8: Use readable URLs for pages

All page URLs for your website should always use hyphens and use less underscores.  If humans find your URLs hard to read, I can't imagine how the search engine bots would take it.

# 9: No capital letters
All round use of capital letters in URLs and title tags should be avoided.

Page URLs are case sensitive, so try not to confuse search engines.

# 10: Get rid of bad URLs with robots.txt

The robots.txt files includes an allow and disallow section. With this, you can prevent search engines from crawling certain web page URLs that are less than ideal.

# 11: Use Canonical URL

This is very important.  This would preventive duplicate content pages by telling search engines your preferred web page.

# 12: structure your URLs with target keywords.

This can help people find your website easily through search results. Add target keywords in your URL.

Edit the default permalink, by shortening and adding only target keywords. Use hyphens to separate each keyword.

13) Don't forget old posts

This is very crucial and most people make this mistake.  Take a moment out if your busy schedule to update and republish your old posts.

14) Site speed

This relates to how quickly your website or blog loads. This affects SEO and it's becoming more and more important. You can check your website page speed using google search console.

How?

Log in > web tools > Other resources > Page Speed Insights

Google pagespeed checker

15) Appearance on Mobile devices

Due to the differences in screen size, there is a need to optimize your website compatibility on mobile devices.

For mobile optimization, according to google a responsive design is best. People should be able to navigate through your website easily, irrespective of the device they make use of.

17) Backlinks

Get your share of backlinks from authority sites. Authority sites are sites already trusted by its audience and other search engines.

The more the backlinks you have from authority sites, the more the link juice for higher ranking.

Think of it as a vote of confidence for google to trust your website more, and with time your website will become an authority site as well.

18) Comments

Do not disable your comment section. The more the engagements on your webpage, the better. It promotes trust by your ability to provide useful content. It means that people care about your content enough to add their opinions, questions, praises and so on

The only thing you should be aware of are spam comments. No, no you don't want that, remove them right away.

It is always better to add no follow attributes to your comments section. That way google will just ignore it, Problem Solved.

Spam comments

19) Location

If you own an actually business, store or company. It's best you add it to google my business, so that people that reside near you can find you with ease.

When you register, don't forget to make sure the information you added about your industry or company is accurate, real people are going to try and find you. So, it’s important you input the right details.

20) Social media

The whole point of seo is to increase website visibility. One of the most obvious means to do that is through social media

21) User experience

This has to do with focusing on human navigation through your website. Avoid annoying pop-up ads, it causes bad user experience.

Properly arrange ads on website, it should never obstruct or block the main contents.

Wrapping up

Search engine optimization is a gradual process. As a website owner, it is something you should continuously work on or get a seo expert to work on it for you. If you want to take your website to the next level, seo is the best way to go.

Increased visibility of a website is the goal here. Follow the above points to get started with basic seo.

Do you have any questions or suggestions? then i will love to read them in the comment section below, thanks.
